About Us

We are Cardboard Engineering, an independent, student-run and self-funded FIRST Tech Challenge team based in Frome, Somerset. We build our robots using the facilities at Frome College, but everything else is down to us: finances, task delegation, design, software, manufacturing and outreach. Our aim is to spark an interest in engineering and robotics among young people in Frome. Along the way, our members learn CAD, software engineering and manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing. But our team is about more than robots. Because we raise our own funds and build our own network of supporters. Members also develop real-world skills in presenting, financial management and leadership alongside engineering. These things are not offered or taught in normal school curriculum to the level that our members learn.
